We provide comprehensive courses in ICAO 291 Aviation English, IMO Marine English, radio telephony procedures, and two-way radio communication, suitable for pilots, air traffic controllers, radio operators, Aviation, Marine and Industry communication professionals.

3. Are the courses online or in-person?
All our courses are available online, allowing you to learn at your own pace and from anywhere., or in a classroom environment in Cape Town, South Africa (or your chosen facility which will require travel by the facilitator). 

4. Do I need prior experience to enroll in your courses?
No prior experience is necessary. Our courses are designed to accommodate learners at various levels, from beginners to advanced professionals.

5. Is your ICAO 291 Aviation English testing certified?
Yes, we are accredited through the UKCAA and EASA and provide certification upon completion, which can be valuable for your professional development and regulatory compliance.

Access duration varies depending on the course. Details are provided at the time of enrollment, but generally, you will have access for several months to complete the content at your own pace.

13. What is The Talking Radio Methodology?
In addition to teaching grammar, vocabulary, and radio telephony, our instructors focus on practical conversational topics tailored to students’ interests and careers. We achieve this through a blend of theoretical learning and hands-on Aviation English training to prepare you for real-world communication.

14. What learning materials will I get?
After your sessions, you will receive access to interactive quizzes, assignments, and activities designed to test your understanding of complex speech, accent variation, and real-life radio communication scenarios.

15. What is the online class experience like?
Everyone makes mistakes – that’s how we learn. Our online classes include between 8 to 12 students, allowing you to practice speaking, receive personalised feedback, and learn from others’ mistakes too. Your instructor ensures everyone has time to read aloud, answer questions, and engage in conversation. If you would like more personal feedback or help with specific areas (such as professional communication or advanced grammar), you can book an additional private class.

16. Do I need to stick to a class schedule?
Definitely not. You can book your appointments to suit your schedule. However, please notify us in advance if you need to amend your booking. The facilitator will wait online for 10 minutes after the scheduled start time—if you have not joined by then, your session will be cancelled, and you will need to rebook.

17. What software and hardware do I need?
Preparing for your studies with us is simple. You will need a stable internet connection, a reliable computer, and the free version of Zoom. Please ensure your camera is on and that you actively participate when asked—this helps ensure the best learning progress.

18. Will I receive something to show for my learning progress?
Yes. You will receive a certificate for each course that you successfully complete with Talking Radio. Our certificates are issued in accordance with QAHE policies.

19. What is Zoom and how is it used for classes?
Zoom is a secure video conferencing and screen-sharing platform used to attend our classes. Talking Radio provides class access via our licensed platform, allowing all enrolled students to participate for the duration of their sessions.

20. What happens if a teacher cancels a class or doesn’t show up?
This is extremely rare, but if it does happen, we will refund the credit for that class and log the incident accordingly. If you haven’t heard from us within 72 hours, please get in touch via our Contact page.

21. What happens if I miss a class?

Credit Loss:
The credit for a missed class is generally not refunded, as the booking secures your seat and reserves the facilitator’s time.

Late Arrival Policy:
Facilitators are required to wait a maximum of 10 minutes after your scheduled start time. If you arrive after this period, the session may be recorded as “missed by student”.

Attendance Status:
To confirm your attendance record, a “Teacher Feedback Report” will be emailed to you indicating whether your attendance was recorded or marked as “Missed”.
